We're so proud to announce the addition of Ava Jane Nelson to our family. She was born at Alta Bates Hospital here in Berkeley on May 18th at 4:39pm. It was a long and adventurous 59-hour labor and we were so fortunate to have great support from our doula Ann, the nursing staff and our doctor (who canceled all his afternoon patients to make sure he could see the birth through). It was an empowering and positive experience and we have a charming and robust daughter with quite a story to show for it.
So far she has been feeding and sleeping well (for a newborn). She likes to sleep on Daddy's chest and stare dreamily into Mommy's eyes. We're still mastering the art of swaddling her into the shape of a burrito which makes her oh-so content.

CONGRATULATIONS! Thank you so much for sending photos ~ she is darling! She is so fortunate to have the two of you as her mommy and daddy... Can't wait to meet her! We have lots of baby girl clothes and sleeping items to share... give us a call if you need some more pink! =)
