Last weekend we headed down to San Diego to visit Grandma and Grandpa. Ava had such a wonderful time exploring, playing and chasing around new friends, she can't wait to get back down there again. She actually managed to smuggle one of these bananas past airport security in her pant leg - sneaky girl.

Ava finally got to meet her fabulous cousin Paris (and her little dog Zilla). She was quite enchanted by them both. Ava actually looks a lot like Paris when she was a wee babe.

What could be more fun than running around the yard naked and playing with new toys? (Grandma has what seems like an endless supply of toys stashed about.)

Maybe watching birds in the window?

Or playing with these orange "balls" that seem to grow on trees everywhere?

Ava had her first real beach experience when we spent the day hanging out with Pete and Sandy and her honorary cousins Jasper and Annalise. She couldn't get enough splashing and trodding around in the chilly water.

She also sampled quite a bit of sand, a much finer delicacy than the rough variety at the playground back home.

A quick trip with Dad on the kayak.

She just thinks these guys are the greatest too.

Ah, to be so obliviously naked.
The shot of Ava and Erik in the kayak slays me. I can't tell if she's shouting "Man Overboard!" or "Turn it, Pops. Turn it!" She's so stinkin' hilarious.
looks like a great trip!
Ava will soon be a raft guide - just a little more practice. And she'll need to know that she has to wear a life jacket!
