So what's the first word that comes to mind when camping with a toddler? DIRTY! The second would be EXHAUSTING and the third FUN! We headed out to Butano State Park for "our first camping adventure with Ava. It is a lovely place in the Santa Cruz Mountains filled with Redwoods. Ava was just beside herself with glee to have so much to explore, so many people to meet, and so much dirt, pine cones, rocks, sticks, leaves and logs to muck about with.

Ooooh, the tent... so many peek-a-boo games to be played.

Daddy demonstrating to Ava how little birds jump out of the tree for their first flight?

They were trying to decide if the banana slug would make good eattin' or not. (Erik has pulled a slug and a ladybug out of Ava's mouth before so she's know to dine on "wild game").

Seriously, I wish you could see how dirty she is here. It's 7am and she had been clean for only an hour. I was getting dirt out of her ears tonight after 2 baths.
