Miss. Smarty Pants

Some recent pictures from our trip to the Bay Are Discovery Museum in Sausalito with her friend Ava Sophia.

Now I always say that Ava Jane is cracking us up. Who needs more entertainment than a conversation with a toddler? Some times she just blurts out the craziest things and at other times we love sitting there patiently as she waits for the words to ask us a specific question that's on her mind. And at other times she just spews silly stories that make no sense and laughs like it's all an old joke. I'll always be grateful for having such an early talker who embraces new words and has impeccable pronunciation. It has made these "terrible-twos" quite easy (knock on wood) and entertaining. But mostly it shows us her curious nature, that's the job of a toddler isn't it. Everyday we're answering her questions of "What's that?, What happened?, What does this do?"... And she stores all the information and new words with amazing clarity. We keep reminding her, "Ava, you've got a big brain - you're a smart girl." Indeed.

Here are a few recent quotes:

Getting dressed in the morning...
Ava: "I don't like my choices."

Coming home from preschool...
Ava: "I'm going to drive the car all by myself some day."
Mommy: "Yes, when your older Mommy and Daddy will teach you."
Ava: "Yeah, I'll learn when I'm a teenager."

Washing hands before dinner...
Ava: "Daddy don't waste water! Turn it off."

While Daddy is reading her a bedtime story...
Ava: "Daddy said winner, it's WINTER time."
(Marks the first time Ava has corrected her parents enunciation - jeez)

While Mommy and Ava are cooking in the kitchen...
Daddy: "What are you guys making over there?"
Ava: "We're making granola."
Daddy: "Yum, I want to have some."
Ava: "You can't have any. It's only for girls. Mommy, this is getting gooder."
(Seriously, must be something she picked up as preschool.)

While trying on the baby carrier that is way too big for her...
Ava: "Let's get one of these in my size.... at Target."
(Really, not everything in our house comes from Target but apparently Ava thinks so.)

While reading stories with Daddy...
Daddy: "You smell like hotdog."
Ava: "You smell like Mexican food."

Some other good one-liners from Ava.
"Don't throw burritos."
"How was your good day Daddy?"
"Come on Mama, let's blink. Let's blink, really, really fast."
"Go focus Mommy."
"It's not spicy, it's fine. I washed it down."
