This isn't the most brilliant photo but we had a tired, hungry girl after a day at preschool. Today they all walked to the fire station for a tour and Ava had been anticipating the day for quite a while. They made the fire fighters a giant card with all of their pictures, drawings and stickers and they baked them banana bread. Plus they had been wearing fire fighter dress-up clothes all week. She eagerly told us how they got to spray the hose, climb in the fire truck and see all of their gear. But she said there were no fire cats at the station and no fire fighter women. Her teacher told me that apparently one of the firemen could sense her enthusiasm and asked her "can fire fighters be women too?" to which Ava exclaimed "yes they can!". That's my girl.
