Our Little Song Bird

There's no sense in keeping up with Ava's new words. This little talker is on the fast track. At 16 months she'll say any word that you ask her to and I'm constantly amazed at the new words that she's picked up from us. We've tried out, "dinosaur", "plantain", "octopus", "lasagna"... and she'll happily and proudly gives each word a shot with just a hint of shyness. She's starting to combine 2-3 words into phrases. It's quite exciting to see her communication and language skills blossom. She's pointed to the BBQ and said, "hot-no-touch", tipped the cup upside down and said, "milk-all-gone", waved at the door and said "bye-bye-Daddy". She's truly aware of her surrounding and soaking up all that we say to her.

But, this week was the kicker, Ava started singing. I don't know why I didn't realize this would happen but I was kind of surprised. Of course we sing to her all the time so it would make sense that she'd pick it up. She loves this rendition of I'm a Little Teapot which we've almost committed to memory. And, Aunt Ann, you'll be happy to know she's singing Hit the Road to Dream Land that we picked up from you. It's a very dramatic, drawn out "byyyye-byyyyye-babyyyyy". Combine that with her Ray Charles style dancing and you've got quite an act.
