Christmas Spirit

We're getting into the Christmas spirit around here. The other night we took Ava to the Christmas Fantasy at Tilden Park's historic and newly restored 1911 carousel. Ava rode the ibex (at least that's what we're calling it) which is a new favorite animal. The place was decorated beautifully with themed Christmas trees, lots of lights, the smell of popcorn... all of this beautifully hidden deep in the unlit forest of Tilden. We'll be back there next year for this secluded and wholesome taste of the holidays.

The highlight of Ava's trip to Tilden that night was the Shetland pony grazing at the "North Pole". Man are those things cute. We probably could have packed him up in the back of our station wagon and taken him home.

Santa introduced himself to Ava. She wasn't quite sure what to make of him but he sure left an impression. She'll run around the house now saying "Santa Clause, ho-ho-ho".

We put up a pint-sized Christmas tree which we're still not sure if we made the right call on that or not. Ava looked at us like "you guys must be mad bringing a tree in this house, what's come over you?" We'll find one side of the tree empty of ornaments, which have been scattered around the house. But she pats the tree saying "be nice" and giggles with delight every time we turn the lights on. Ava delivered cookies to all of our neighbors this chilly morning too. Yup, we're all set for Christmas.
