Tea Time with Auntie Ann

Ava had visitors all the way from New York last weekend. Great Auntie Ann and Great Uncle Jerry were in town while Jerry was coaching and judging a weightlifting meet. We had a lovely time in their short visit. Mom and Aunt Ann got to catch up and explore the local knitting and fabric stores and Ava was happy to entertain as always.

One of the highlights of their visit was the tea set Aunt Ann brought Ava. Now she can host a proper tea party, perhaps even whip up a luncheon with all the new pots and dishes. It's amazing to see Ava's imagination take hold now. She is staring to dream things up in her head and play them out. She'll make tea for Mom and Dad and nibble on an imaginary toast point. Just this evening we were outside and Ava was drawing on the ground. She said "I chalking Aunt Ann... I draw Jerry". They are just line scratches but sure enough that imagination is working. This week she has been picking up her cell phone and saying "Hi Aunt Ann. How are you?" and walking away like they need to have a conversation in private. It's such a treat to see her loving her family so.

I forgot to mention that Ann is helping put a family tree together for the Ambrose/Verone side of the family which has been hard to track down. She found that the Verone's came from Calabria at the turn of the century. I never knew. She already has a comprehensive lineage done of the Shelnutt/Budd side which includes over 1600 people some going back 10 generations! I can see how hunting down all this information can be quite addicting. If you haven't checked out Ancestry it's pretty cool.
