Weekend Round-up

Our weekend started early when Erik called to say he was coming home from work since the SWAT team showed up. Not an excuse you get to use that often. So we all bundled up to head out to the cafe for some soup and hot chocolate. Ava insisted on wearing her monkey swaddled on her back. She is very dutiful when she takes care of her animals and her babies. She kept exclaiming to everyone "I have a monkey on my back!"

The next day we had a play date with a new friend and we went to a book launch for one of their friends at a new local book store. These two did a pretty good job of listening but they enjoyed pulling books off shelves and watching the author's live duck a little more. It's always great to find someone who seems like an easy, enjoyable fit with your child.

Then it was a Sunday brunch with another one of Ava's buddies. This involved lots of dancing to Madonna in tu-tus and gorging on fruit salad while Moms and Dads catch up on parenting challenges and memorable toddler quotes. Good times all around until they melted into nap time misery.

A full but enjoyable weekend, some how very relaxing considering we just stayed in the neighborhood. That's part of the reason we're so grateful to be where we are, in our little green house.
