This weekend we celebrated Ava Jane's 3rd birthday. My how the time flies, seems like not that long ago we were bringing her home from the hospital. She's such a little charmer now with her own personality and network of friends. We're so glad we get a chance to dote even more on our little Ava just before her sister arrives. She has been giddy with excitement, talking about her birthday for months now and for her it will be a week long celebration.
We let the kids run wild with games and such in the backyard. Luckily for us Grandma and Grandpa made the drive up here from San Diego to help out and celebrate. Ava has been shadowing them since they arrived. It's quite special for her to have them here and I know she's soaking it all up.
There were a few tears over sharing and a lot of screaming with delight. But hey, they're 3 and doing their best. The stomp rockets were a big hit and hiding in the tent was a great game.
It's amazing how 3-year-olds snap to attention when it's time for the birthday song. Ava knew just what to do and what to expect like she had been practicing it in her head.
We made special lemon-vanilla-creamcheese cupcakes with kitty decorations. Or I should say Grandma cranked out 4 dozen cupcakes! I have to say I lost track of how many cupcakes Ava ate. But that's what birthdays are about right.
We found several "bald" cupcakes hanging around the yard. Look at her and her buddies cleaning off the tops.
What a day!
