At last, here are some picture of the Christmas goodness that happened around here. Ava and Hazel had a wonderful time and we can see how much fun they will have in years to come. It's amazing to see how much they adore one another and how their bond seems to be growing tighter with each day. I love just seeing the two of them lock eyes in their own little moment.
It was great having Nanny Jane and Papa Dave here to celebrate. I selfishly like having my mom here to make all of my favorite food and stock up the freezer. Nanny Jane gave Ava a lesson in making Christmas sticky buns which are essential around here for a proper morning feast.
Ava did double duty this year, opening most of Hazel's presents. I'm sure there is no way Hazel will let that happen next year. You all we so generous. But the wrapping paper was oh so entertaining, always is!
Ava's love of dolls and taking care of babies is pretty limitless these days. She was over the moon tending to her little flock. We can see how her play has changed with a "real baby doll" in the house. She'll exclaim, "Daddy, Gwendolin had a big poop and it leaked every where! We need to change her now." Then once the dolly in question is cleaned up, BAM, what do you know, Ava says it happened AGAIN and we must do it all over again. But I will say that firefighters and doctors are a close contenders for her play affections too. We rush dollies who have fallen out of trees to the emergency room in ambulances and Ava flies them to Mexico quiet often (letting Hazel be the pilot).
We got out for a little hiking and play time outdoors, always essential too.
Our littlest fan of the swing.
And our newest football fan, thanks to Dave. Good times, Erik and I are already excited for next year.
